Terms and Conditions of English Lesson Attendance
- Lesson attendance is voluntary and continued attendance is considered a sign of satisfaction with services provided. If you are unsatisfied with a lesson you may contest payment of the most recent lesson. Note, failure to pay for lessons, including contesting payment of the most recent lesson, may result in a refusal of future services.
- The tutor (Daniel Agnew) is not liable for any damages perceived to arise during lessons or as a result of services provided. Students acknowledge that their education is ultimately their responsibility. The tutor is not liable for any lost or delayed opportunities perceived to be the result of the tutor’s services. External markers of educational improvement or success are not to be taken as a sign of the quality of the tutor’s services. A student’s failure to meet a specific grading level in an external exam is not the tutor’s responsibility even if preparatory services were offered.
- The tutor will try to foster a friendly and respectful learning environment. Where differences, disagreements and misunderstandings arise, the tutor will do their best to mediate and resolve such problems. Students are encouraged to behave in a friendly and respectful manner towards the tutor. If a student has a concern about the behaviour of the tutor, they should raise it with the tutor as soon as practicably possible.
- The tutor reserves the right to remove students from lessons or cease offering tutoring services if they so choose. Students recognise that this decision rests with the tutor and that the tutor’s decision to limit or cease offering services is primarily a business decision and is not a personal rejection of a student or their identity.
- While the tutor will attempt to maintain a reasonably consistent lesson schedule, the tutor reserves the right to adjust the availability of all lessons based on their personal availability and business demands.
- Unless otherwise specified, ‘hour’ refers to a 55-minute session and ‘half-hour’ refers to a 25-minute session.
- Both the students and the tutor will try to adhere to start and end times for lessons as closely as possible. A minor variation in start or end time, such starting or ending 5 minutes late or early, is not seen as a cancellation by either party. A lesson will never start before the scheduled start time.
- Unless otherwise specified, a cancellation refers to either the student(s) or the tutor not being present at all for the lesson or, if they were present for part of the lesson, it was less than ¼ of the total lesson time. If the tutor cancels the lesson, the entire lesson is free for all participants – and if a student cancels the lesson, that individual student is not required to pay for it. Cancellations can occur at any time. They can be advised ahead of time – and this is preferred – but all parties recognise sometimes this is not possible and that cancellations may be occasionally advised during or after the lesson. Students should be mindful that there are limited available lessons and limited available places in group lessons. As a result, students should be aware that some or all tutoring services may be withdrawn from students who frequently cancel lessons.
- I am currently only offering tutoring services to adults. I am not currently tutoring minors. When I say minors I mean either people under the age of 18 or, if your country has an older age age by which someone becomes an adult, then under that age instead. For example, if you weren’t legally to be classified as an adult in your country until 20, then I wouldn’t be willing to offer tutoring services to you. I take no responsibility for any harm that a minor may claim due to recieving my services and not advising me they are a minor. If I find that a student is a minor I will cease offering tutoring services to them. I am happy, however, to receive expessions of interest by minors and their family for minor-specific lessons and if there is enough demand I may start providing such services.
